All already have a Winlink email addresses. It is their Australian Call sign followed by @winlink.org; for example VK1LK@winlink.org. (Call of Ernie Hocking, the former Federal WIA President). Note: There are no legal restrictions whatsoever against Australian radio amateurs communicating with Winlink radio stations. To register as a user, log on to any Winlink Participating Mail Box Office (PMBO). More than 500 Australian radio amateurs have already done so. There are now three land-based PMBO's in Australia and another one will be on the air soon in Melbourne. All can coonect with Winlink Users in a radius of up to 2000 or more miles. New Zealand has two PMBOs (ZL1MA and ZL2UT) and a station will be on the air soon in India. In total there are about 45 Winlink radio relay stations around the world. Please, consult www.winlink.org to find operating frequencies and Pactor modes supported by each station in the worldwide Winlink network. Also consult the radio propagation predictor that is build into the AirMail program to check on the best available stations that can be reached from your location. Look at "Winlink in Australia" to gain an impression of the radio range of Australia-based Winlink radio stations. Australians when in other parts of the world have, of course, excellent probabilities of being able to connect to a Winlink Station and therefore stay in touch with family and friends back home. |
