Winlink's Increasing Humanitarian Support Role

Winlink is gradually playing a more important role in supporting humanitarian activities.  It reports that there are many religious and several volunteer charitable medical organizations using the Winlink 2000 system.

Scott (K4SET) is the Winlink 2000 coordinator for all such activities and can be most helpful to those wishing to employ the Winlink 2000 service.  Scott has set up a special web site for this purpose. Shown below is part of the Home Page.

The Winlink 2000 Network, Amateur Radio, and How It Could Help Your Work

Your people in the field must be able to communicate with each other, with your organization, and with their supporters in order to be effective with their work, regardless of their location. High Frequency (HF) Radio E-mail may be their best option, and it is certainly the most affordable option.

Effective communications within your teams, and with their family, friends, and supporters means:

  • Increased support (supporters that know what's happening want to be a part of it!)
  • Improved morale (your team can have E-mail access to family and friends regardless of location)
  • Maximum efficacy (logistics, mission strategy, ordering supplies)

Timely, and dependable communications is one of the keys to success in the mission field.

Australian humanitarian aid organisations would be equally interested in this website that provides important information about: (a) Winlink operation; (b) equipment requirements; and (c) information about how to join the Amateur Radio Service. The URL and email contact for the site are:

and Scott (K4SET) may be personally contacted at: k4set@radioministries.org.
