Karl B. Staddon (With Canadian call VE6KBS) and a Winlink PMBO SYSOP also attempted to separately identify reported position using the epicenter of the earthquake as the reference point. This did not produce an outstanding list. It could possibly indicate that either (1) there were not all that many Winlink-equipped vessels around; or (2) that few had reported positions during the preceding ten days. The information provided covers: (1) The operator's amateur radio callsign; (2) the distance and Degrees (True) from the epicenter; (3) the coordinates; and (4) sometime a brief report filed by the vessel.
