Digital Amateur Radio Communications

A Self-paced Information Presentation in PowerPoint format

AussieWinlink has responded to requests for a simple presentation describing digital communications and the role played by Winlink. It has done so by designing and publishing a PowerPoint (PPT) presentation. It provides an introduction to the subject and links to websites that can be accessed for more information. It is hoped that this Presentation will fill a void that was apparent for some time. (See Note A.)

At this stage the Presentation is covered only by this Media Release. It is intended to provide shortly a down-loadable version that can be used for presentation at meetings of radio amateurs; sailing and other boating associations and outback travelers such as the 4WD clubs. As soon as final PPT is available it will be announced on this page.

As part of the presentation a Winlink Traffic Flow Table is available to show the way Winlink digital messages are routed. It should be used in conjunction with this presentation. It can be accessed by clicking on this link > Traffic Flow.

This presentation is a "Beta" version and comments and questions are welcome as these will assist in improving the Presentation without making it too detailed or too long. Please, send your contribution to support@aussiewinlink.org. (See Note B.)

Note A: Other PowerPoint presentations and explanatory materials are available from other sources. Find some of these links at: http://www.winlink.org/Emergency.htm under the heading "Presentations." For an excellent and exhaustive presentation, making the case for digital amateur radio communications, especially for emergency relief operations see: www.winlink.org/Presentations/ARES.ppt. This was prepared and presented by Steve (K4CJX), the Winlink Administrator, on behalf of ARRL's ARESCOM.

Note B: Please, always make sure that you have the latest version of this Presentation. Comments received from website visitors are immediately following receipt incorporated in updated versions. To enable you to check whether you have the latest version, each of the next following slides shows the latest revision date immediately below the explanatory text that accompanies each slide.
