Participation in Winlink 2000

Users

Users are licensed radio amateurs who use Winlink to send or receive email messages via radio. Generally, they are mobile operators out at sea or touring the outback. Sometimes they have fixed stations. Click "Users" for detail.

Operators

Operators are licensed radio amateurs who operate Winlink radio stations. Basically, they are like a post office managing mail boxes for individual Users. However, they do not deliver or collect on their own initiative. Mail for a User is kept in the User's mailbox till such time that it is collected. Mail received from a User is forwarded via the Internet to the Central Mail Box Office in the US for further forwarding to addressees. Please, follow the link "PMBOs" for more detail.

Other Participants

Others are family and friends who like to stay in touch with the traveler. They do so by sending a message to the CMBO which, in turn, will forward the message via the Internet to PMBOs. Click "Others" for details.
